The Chamber has a wide variety of standing committees, task forces and event organizing committees where you can have fun, make business contacts and make a contribution to the community.

Our committee structure gives you a unique opportunity to network and to have your say in how your Chamber works for you. What a great way to benefit your business and your Chamber with a commitment of less than two hours a month.

The CEO appoints all committee members subject to confirmation by the Board. All committee appointments are are based on areas of expertise required and interest of the applicant. Ambassador (September to June)

1st Wednesday of the month from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
The Ambassador Committee is ideal for a member wishing to cultivate new business by welcoming new members to the Chamber, providing follow up with the member and participating in special events: Member Orientations, Business of the Month, Biz After 5, plus networking with members, new and old, who have not participated in Chamber activities in the past 6 to 8 months.

Events (September to June)

3rd Tuesday of the month from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
The committee evaluates all events and programs with an eye towards change, renewal, additions and targeted networking. The committee addresses the education and information needs of local and regional businesses. It assists in the co-ordination and development of such activities as Business for Breakfast, Women In Business, Lunch & Learn, Curling Funspiel, and biz After 5 events.

Government Affairs (September to June)

2nd Thursday of the month from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
A Policy Committee and Task Forces monitor and interpret government legislation that will impact business and make recommendations for action to the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The Committee and its Task Forces work with various levels of government and with the Economic Development Departments of the Greater Oshawa area to ensure the Chamber continues to be a strong “Voice of Business” on behalf of all members and that  there is a climate for growth of existing businesses as well as new business.

Task Force (Short-Term)

Awards (February to June)

1st Thursday of the month from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Responsible for carrying out the nominations, interviews and selection process for the Chamber’s Annual Business Excellence Awards in September of each year.

Golf (January to April)

4th Friday of the month from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Assists in the organizing of the Chamber’s Annual Golf Tournament in May of each year, by networking with members to explain the value of this event to their membership through hole sponsorships, golf cart sponsorships and silent auction prizes.
