The Christopher Leadership Course (CLC) in Effective Speaking was first held in Windsor, Ontario in 1953. Courses have been offered continuously since that date, and have spread across the country. Each year many Canadians join the ranks of CLC’s successful graduates.
The Durham-Toronto East chapter was established in 1986, and has become the most vibrant area, graduating the most number of students among all regions in Canada.
And what creates this positive outlook? Repeatedly, the same skills prevail: develop public speaking skills; build self-confidence; improve communication skills; improve leadership skills; memory techniques; effective delivery; positive attitude; listening skills and embracing change.
CLC offers two courses: Level 1 that runs for 11 weeks and Level 2 Advanced course that runs for 8 weeks. In CLC courses, you learn by doing!
Level 1 topics include how to organize a talk, speech reading, speaking with an object, introducing and thanking speakers, presenting and accepting gifts, impromptu speeches, memory techniques, eliminating “hems and haws”, and the importance of body language.
Advanced course topics include business presentations, PowerPoint techniques, effective use of the microphone, job interviews, networking, as well as developing human relations and interpersonal skills.
