Durham Economic Prosperity Conference Says Business As Usual Is Not An Option

The third biennial Durham Economic Prosperity Conference was a resounding success and brought together over 120 community, academia and industry leaders to discuss strategies aimed at improving Durham Region and facilitating its economic growth.

Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) president Jayson Myers opened the November 5th invitation-only event at the Ajax Convention Centre stating, “business as usual is not an option.” Dianne Buckner, host of CBC Dragons’ Den, moderated the Conference and led the group through a morning of forums and interactive panel discussions. John Tory, Newstalk 1010, wrapped up the day stating, “the Region must break down the silos and work together more efficiently to ensure productivity and growth.”

The half day “think tank” Conference will culminate with a report generated and sent to all participants and all levels of government for follow up on the initiatives identified at the Conference.
