AJAX, Ontario – This summer Carea Community Health Centre is happy to offer 4 FREE programs for youth! All programs require pre-registration by calling Carea Community Health Centre’s Ajax location at 905-428-1212.
Are you 13-19 years old and need volunteer hours? Want leadership experience and training? Then the Community Leadership Crew is for you! Two days of training followed by a community event that will give your resume a boost. You finish with a certificate AND earn community volunteer hours. Each participant will take part in a community volunteer opportunity to put their new skills to the test. The leadership training dates are July 17th and 19th at our Ajax location (360 Bayly St W., Unit 5, Ajax) from 1:00-3:30 p.m. The community event will take place on July 26th. The location and time TBD.
If you are a young woman 13-19 years old, join us in Spa Spectacular. You will participate in activities including home spa treatments, crafts and learning about various stress management and relaxation techniques. This workshop is a great way to meet new people! The program runs on July 13th from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at our Ajax location (360 Bayly St W., Unit 5, Ajax).
For those hungry for culinary practice and experience, we have Dish Up Dinner for youth 13-19. This program consists of three free cooking sessions where participants indulge in hands-on involvement, allowing them to practice skills in the kitchen (it also features a Registered Dietitian!). Each day brings new, healthy, and delicious recipes while learning how to make and plan meals at home. The program will run July 10th, 11th and 12th from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at McLean Community Centre (95 Magill Dr., Ajax).
Are you between the ages of 12-14 and interested in baby-sitting? Carea Community Health Centre will be offering a free three day Baby-Sitting Course on July 30th & 31st from 10:00am- 3:00pm and August 1st from 9:00am- 12:00pm at our Ajax location (360 Bayly St W., Unit 5, Ajax). This baby-sitting workshop will help to enhance the skills and knowledge of youth by teaching strategies to create a safe and happy environment for children, how to deal with emergencies, skills to foster positive interaction with children, providing tips for finding babysitting jobs and much more. It is a Red Cross certified course and participants will receive a certificate upon completion.
