May 25, 2016 – This spring, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport has been holding facilitated focus sessions on tourism in communities across Ontario. At these sessions, the government has been soliciting feedback on a preliminary draft of its tourism strategy for the province.
The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) recognizes that the tourism industry is a critical economic driver in many communities across the province. As the global tourism industry continues to grow, Ontario has an important opportunity to capture a greater proportion of the market.
In this submission, the OCC presents five key areas of feedback for the government to incorporate into its final strategic framework, including reducing the cumulative burden faced by tourism operators and improving coordination within Ontario’s tourism ecosystem.
