The Corporation of the City of Oshawa is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephanie Sinnott, as Commissioner of Finance Services, effective immediately.
“We are very excited to announce Ms. Sinnott as Commissioner of Finance Services. Council looks forward to continuing a collaborative effort with staff and our ratepayers to deliver efficient and affordable services to the Oshawa community,” said Mayor John Henry.
Ms. Sinnott has been with the City for over 15 years in a variety of roles within the Finance Services Branch. Throughout her tenure at the City, Ms. Sinnott has demonstrated a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility in providing oversight and leadership in the development and preparation of the City’s corporate financial planning process, budgets, financial strategy, financial reporting, audits, asset management, internal controls and policies.
“Ms. Sinnott’s in-depth knowledge of municipal government and finance has made her a dynamic member of the Corporate Leadership Team providing valuable and insightful direction on corporate matters,” said Jag Sharma, City Manager. “Her collaborative approach, dedication and commitment to teamwork have been appreciated and on behalf of staff, I congratulate Ms. Sinnott.”
Ms. Sinnott oversees four divisions that provide a wide range of financial services to support the Oshawa Strategic Plan’s goal of Financial Stewardship. The divisions include: Financial Planning and Reporting; Financial Services and Financial Systems Development; Revenue and Tax Services; and, Purchasing Services.
Ms. Sinnott is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a member of the Municipal Finance Officers Association and the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario.
