Oshawa Chamber of Commerce Wins Ontario Chamber Chair’s Award for Innovative Program

The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce that it has won the Chair’s Award for Innovative Program at the 2023 Ontario Chamber of Commerce AGM. This prestigious award was given in recognition of the Chamber’s innovative work on 2022’s inaugural Oshawa Orientation program.

The Oshawa Orientation event was designed to welcome new students from Durham College, Ontario Tech University and Trent University Durham GTA to Oshawa and to help them get acquainted with their new city, particularly the Oshawa downtown area’s diverse offering of merchants, restaurants, and attractions.

Oshawa Chamber CEO, Jason King provided a quick acceptance speech, commenting on the power of community.

“The strategic view of this event is that the community comes together to introduce new students to local business and cultural activities to help make Oshawa feel more like home, perhaps permanently,” said Jason King, CEO of the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce.

The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce is proud to have been recognized for its efforts to promote innovation in Oshawa. The Oshawa Orientation program is just one example of the exciting things happening in our city right now. Oshawa is a hub of innovation and creativity, with a growing economy, world-class educational institutions, and a vibrant community.

“Congratulations to the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce for winning the Chair’s Award for Innovative Program at the 2023 Ontario Chamber of Commerce AGM,” said Oshawa’s Mayor, Dan Carter.  “The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce’s leadership in welcoming back over 30 thousand post-secondary students to kick off their school year is one that impacts every aspect of our community.  The collaboration across the Chamber, community organizations, private businesses and the City established a one-of-a-kind event that introduced students to all the wonderful experiences awaiting them in Oshawa.

The City of Oshawa is proud to have been a partner in this event’s success and looks forward to continued collaborations to welcome and support our post-secondary students.”
