The University of Ontario Institute of Technology is accepting applications for funding through FedDev’s Applied Research and Commercialization initiative. This money will be available to support industry partnered research projects after April 1st of 2012. This is a follow-on program to the $739,000 that was awarded to the OTTC for the funding period between April 1st, 2011 and March 31st, 2012. This was used to fund 13 industry-university collaborations and we hope to repeat this success. We encourage you to start thinking about potential industry partners and/or projects that you may want to bring to this program. The overall goal of this initiative is to accelerate innovation, to improve productivity and contribute to the creation of globally competitive companies in Ontario.
UOIT brings considerable research expertise to our industry partners in the areas of community and social wellness, sustainable energy, applied bioscience, automotive, materials and manufacturing, information and communication, gaming, IT security, nuclear engineering and robotics. We will build on this strength to provide assistance to our industry partners in the areas of engineering design, technology development, proof of concept, and problem solving, in as many business sectors as possible.
Eligible partners will be:
- for profit companies in Southern Ontario that employ less than 1000 people
- companies that have never received money under this program before
- are willing to contribute 50% of the total project costs in cash and/or in-kind
FedDev will contribute 50% of the project costs in cash up to $100,000 for a one year project ending no later than March 31st, 2013.
Complete applications for the first round of funding are due in the OTTC no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday March 19th, 2012. Announcements of award will be in early April of 2012. If there is money left over a second round of funding will be announced in Mid April.
If you think you have a partnership that is eligible please contact Szanne McNutt at 905-721-8668 x2699 or by email. All inquiries are welcome!
