Budget submissions are due – we want to hear from you!

Welcome back everyone, and a very happy 2019 to you all! In keeping with my promise from December, we are doing our best to start 2019 out with enthusiasm. Our Government Relations (GR) committee has already met and we are in full swing, planning for the best year yet!

At this point we are looking for some input from you – the business owner, the employee, the colleague, the taxpayer etc. We are going to be creating a policy resolution for the 2019 Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) Annual General Meeting. Considering the ever-changing dynamics of our great city, the new year ahead, and all the potential change we could see, if you have any comments or input on what policy changes you would like to see at the OCC AGM, please feel free to pass them along to me. You can call or email (information below) me. The resolution must be submitted by February 6th, so please comment no later than January 31st.

In addition to the OCC the Ontario Minister of Finance has asked for a submission from us as part of his 2019 Ontario Budget consultations. Gary, a member and former Chair of our GR Committee, attended an in-person session where he made a three-minute Presentation to Minister Fedeli, Minister Bethlenfalvy and Minister Phillips. This being said, we are seeking your input on what you would like us to advocate for during this budget consultation. The written submission is due by February 8th, so again please get your suggestions into me no later than January 31st.

In other news – we will be having another Transportation Summit in the Spring. Final date is still to be determined, but please keep an eye out for details. As a Joint Chambers committee, we are working to get clear answers to some of the proposed changes and to best advocate for this end of the GTA from a public transit and economic perspective.

Until we meet again …
