Welcome back everyone, and\u00a0a very happy 2019 to you all!\u00a0In keeping with my promise\u00a0from December, we are doing\u00a0our best to start 2019 out with enthusiasm.\u00a0Our Government Relations (GR) committee\u00a0has already met and we are in full swing,\u00a0planning for the best year yet!<\/p>\n
At this point we are looking for some\u00a0input from you \u2013 the business owner, the\u00a0employee, the colleague, the taxpayer\u00a0etc. We are going to be creating a policy\u00a0resolution for the 2019 Ontario Chamber of\u00a0Commerce (OCC) Annual General Meeting.\u00a0Considering the ever-changing dynamics\u00a0of our great city, the new year ahead, and\u00a0all the potential change we could see, if you\u00a0have any comments or input on what policy\u00a0changes you would like to see at the OCC\u00a0AGM, please feel free to pass them along to\u00a0me. You can call or email (information below)\u00a0me. The resolution must be submitted by\u00a0February 6th, so please comment no later\u00a0than January 31st.<\/p>\n
In addition to the OCC the Ontario\u00a0Minister of Finance has asked for a\u00a0submission from us as part of his 2019\u00a0Ontario Budget consultations. Gary, a\u00a0member and former Chair of our GR\u00a0Committee, attended an in-person session\u00a0where he made a three-minute Presentation\u00a0to Minister Fedeli, Minister Bethlenfalvy\u00a0and Minister Phillips. This being said, we\u00a0are seeking your input on what you would\u00a0like us to advocate for during this budget\u00a0consultation. The written submission is due\u00a0by February 8th, so again please get your\u00a0suggestions into me no later than January\u00a031st.<\/p>\n
In other news \u2013 we will be having\u00a0another Transportation Summit in the\u00a0Spring. Final date is still to be determined,\u00a0but please keep an eye out for details.\u00a0As a Joint Chambers committee, we are\u00a0working to get clear answers to some of\u00a0the proposed changes and to best advocate\u00a0for this end of the GTA from a public transit\u00a0and economic perspective.<\/p>\n
