The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce<\/a> is pleased to have partnered with Durham Broadband<\/a>, an affiliate of Oshawa Power, and the Downtown Oshawa Business Alliance to install a pilot Wi-Fi area supporting the downtown core businesses. The ‘Connected Corridor’ spans four downtown blocks along King St., starting at Centre St. and running up to Mary St. When in the area, visitors will be encouraged to use their smartphones \u2015 they need only log in once to obtain Wi-Fi in the corridor and receive meal deals and business promotions directly to their device, AND Durham Broadband’s blazing fast connection speeds for all of their Internet-connected needs during their visit to downtown Oshawa.<\/p>\n Infrastructure and businesses need to keep up with demand, and creating Wi-Fi-accessible areas for the community is the project’s underpinning.\u00a0 A successful pilot project could lead to the installation of a more permanent and widely available network for the downtown area.<\/p>\n
