{"id":7964,"date":"2023-03-31T14:57:47","date_gmt":"2023-03-31T18:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oshawachamber.com\/?p=7964"},"modified":"2023-12-12T22:40:09","modified_gmt":"2023-12-13T03:40:09","slug":"march-2023-bylaw-pilot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oshawachamber.com\/oshawa-chamber-news\/march-2023-bylaw-pilot\/","title":{"rendered":"March 2023 &#8211; Review of Business Licensing By-law 120-2005, as Amended, and Temporary Measures Related to Certain Short-Term Food Shop and Peddler Licences"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Project Health:\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Project status is on track.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Update At-a-Glance:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On January 30th, 2023, The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce submitted a letter to City of Oshawa Clerks showing support for the proposed Pilot Program outlining an interim exemption from additional licensing fees as included in Report SF-23-07.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the Oshawa City Council meeting of February 27th, 2023, council received the letter as further information and voted unanimously to approve the dual initiatives of a comprehensive bylaw and permitting review, as well as a temporary pilot project to simplify permitting for certain use cases, especially and notably Short Term Food Shop and Peddler Licenses<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So far there are no major blockers to this project.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To date there have been no unexpected risks to the success of this project.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Documents and Resources:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oshawachamber.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Letter-of-Support_Bylaw-Pilot-2023.pdf\">January 30th Letter,\u00a0 RE: Report SF-23-07<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oshawachamber.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Temporary-Measures-REPORT_SF-23-07.pdf\">February 7th Temporary Measures Report SF-23-07<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oshawachamber.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Correspondence_JKing_CNCL-23-28.pdf\">March 7th Letter, RE: Oshawa Chamber of Commerce Submitting Comments in Support of Item SF-23-007<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roadblocks:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No unexpected roadblocks.\u00a0 The project is currently proceeding as expected.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next Steps:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you to the teams at City of Oshawa Economic Development Services, Bylaw and Permitting, and Domenic Albis of the Downtown Oshawa Business Alliance for their collaboration in pushing this forward.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We look forward to seeing more relevant stakeholder engagement over the course of the review process, leading to improved and simplified ways for Oshawa businesses to do business with and in the City of Oshawa.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Project Health:\u00a0 Project status is on track.
