In Memoriam – John A.Walker

It is with heavy hearts the family of Johnny Walker announce his passing on Wednesday June 11th, 2014 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Friends and family will be received for visitation at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Sunday, June 15th, 2014 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16th, 2014 at 11:00am at St. George’s Memorial Anglican Church, 39 Athol Street, Oshawa followed by interment at Thornton Cemetery, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa. A reception will follow at the Ontario Regiment, The Officers’ Mess, Colonel R.S. McLaughlin Armoury, 53 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa.

John Walker was in his 67th year. Dear son of Ruth Walker and the late Alex Walker. Much loved brother of Jim Walker & his wife Kathy of Oshawa and Bob Walker & his wife Jan of Whitehorse. Lovingly remembered by his nephew Adam Shetler & Danielle and their children Mason & Nola and by his niece Hannah Woodwalker and nephew Jack Woodwalker.

John was a tremendous community supporter and will be sadly missed by his many friends he made throughout his volunteer time with numerous associations. He treasured his time as Administrator of The Officers’ Mess at the Ontario Regiment. John was a member of the Ontario Regiment, the Rotary Club of Oshawa serving as President in 2006, a Paul Harris Fellow and  a long standing member and supporter of the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce. Over the years, John served on and chaired several Chamber committees and served as Chamber President in 2010. He was an avid supporter of the cadets, 151 Chadburn Squadron.

Memorial donations to St. George’s Memorial Anglican Church, Rotary Club of Oshawa, Ontario Regiment Foundation or 151 Chadburn Squadron would be sincerely appreciated by the family. For online condolences please visit armstrongfuneralhome.net.
