Manufacturing Must Be Top Priority In Next Ontario Budget

Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) Report. Ontario has a new Premier and a new Cabinet, and with the recent Throne Speech, we’ll have to wait and see how much of a new direction and approach will be taken by the government. CME looks forward to working with the government to focus on economic growth, new global trade opportunities and an improved and streamlined regulatory system.

While manufacturing was mentioned in the Throne Speech, it needs to be a key focus of the government if Ontario is to address its financial and economic challenges.

To ensure manufacturers’ voices are heard, CME recently announced it will be launching the Ontario Council of Manufacturing Executives (OCME) in April 2013. As a precursor to this initiative, CME is currently meeting with stakeholders across the province to develop a manufacturing strategy and action plan for Ontario, which will be highlighted at the 16th Annual Queen’s Park Reception, March 27, 2013.
