OSHAWA – The City of Oshawa is calling on community members to uplift spirits this holiday season by participating in our Outdoor Holiday Display Contest and by donating to the Feed the Need Durham holiday drive.

Community members are encouraged to enter the Outdoor Holiday Display Contest by submitting a photo at Houses aglow with enchanting light displays, households showcasing charming decorations and animated storefront windows – all outdoor displays that can be seen by those passing by are eligible. The contest runs November 16 to December 16, 2020. Six winners will be chosen at random to receive gift baskets from Tim Hortons valued at $100 each.

Participate in a holiday food drive and give where you can. Feed the Need Durham will be accepting donations of non-perishable food or personal care items between the hours of 12 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays from November 16 to December 16 inclusive. There will be signs and a donation bin set up at 371A Marwood Drive in Oshawa.

Let’s brighten our lives and the lives of others in our community. Share your holiday display photos on social media using #OurOshawa and #OshHolidays. For more holiday spirit, including virtual ideas for crafts, games and more, visit
